Bank of Springfield Celebrates 60 Years

Bank of Springfield (BOS) is celebrating their 60th anniversary on October 29th, 2025.  The bank was founded in 1965 by Jack A. Marantz and a group of local businesspeople in Springfield, Illinois. The original branch is still in operations at 2600 Adali Stevenson Drive. Jack’s vision when opening the first branch was to provide the community with exceptional banking products and services through excellence and local ownership.

The tradition continues under the leadership of Tom Marantz, Chairman of the Board, Jason Knoedler, Chief Executive Officer, and Mike Pence, President.  “I am most grateful for what we have been able to do for our communities alongside a group of people that mean so much to me,” says Tom Marantz.  “60 years is a lot of history but feels quick at the same time.”

In 2000, the bank first expanded into Jacksonville. Today, BOS serves 13 communities and 16 full-service branches in Illinois and Missouri.  The most recent expansion markets include Kansas City, Bloomington – Normal, and Champaign.

60 years later, the bank’s employees have grown from a team of 4 to over 300 strong, and the vision remains the same.  “We built BOS one customer at a time and will continue to prioritize lifelong relationships with our customers, employees, and the communities we serve”.

BOS now has $1.8 billion in assets, over 2.6 billion in loans, including $899 million in secondary mortgage loans, and an additional $273 million in service released agricultural loans. The bank’s services include business banking, trust administration, BOS Wealth and Planning, BOS Asset Management, and BOS Insurance Agency.

BOS is celebrating their 60th anniversary with Customer Appreciation Week October 25th – November 1st.  Customers are invited to stop in their local branch for a special gift.
