The Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI) is the statutory State Fire Academy for Illinois. It serves as the oldest continuous fire training institution in the United States. Since 1925, first responders from across the state and world have relied on IFSI to deliver hands-on, innovative, and top-quality training, education, and research.
The Institute has a direct effect on the Champaign County business by securing over 24,000 hotel rooms annually for local training. Students also spend in excess of $720,000 annually on food and drink while attending training on our campus. We provide an economic impact to the area of at least $3,000,000 each year.
We are a 501 3(c) organization and we are always interested in a partnership with the business community. We also provide customized training or speaking engagements on many emergency response topics to our partners for little or no charge. Please contact Tim Walsh Director of Corporate Relations to set up a meeting. He can be reached at 217-300-0717 or tmwalsh@illinois.edu.
