POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Nursing ensures that optimum care is provided to elders/residents/patients/clients (hereinafter, “residents”) by confidently leading the overall operation of MeadowBrook Health Center at ClarkLindsey.  This includes responsibility for ensuring excellent resident care, family satisfaction, staff leadership and management, budgeting, and strict compliance with regulatory requirements. 

This full-time, salaried leadership position requires a Registered Nurse with confident problem solving skills, excellent and effective oral and written communication skills, the ability to interpret and implement complex regulations and policy, strong clinical skills, and a capacity to create and implement resident centered systems. Timely follow-up on issues is essential to success. The ability to effectively work with others to accomplish the responsibilities of this position is crucial.

Despite the frequent shifting of priorities, deadlines and goals, the highest standards of service and care must be maintained.  Success will be achieved when the director demonstrates the ability to maintain and continually improve an environment that exudes forward-thinking, compassion, and person-centered practices. 

Key responsibilities of the Director of Nursing:  

  • Overall leadership of the MeadowBrook Health Center and Green House Homes teams in the provision of care and services according to professional standards of nursing practice, consistent with ClarkLindsey's philosophy of care, and state and federal laws and regulations.  The team consists of nurses, CNAs, therapists, and others. 
  • Manage admissions, assessments and care plans. 
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures consistent with current laws and regulations. 
  • Frequently work with other departments, professionals, consultants and organizations to ensure that services are consistently meeting and exceeding expectations of residents and their families. 
  • Finally, the DON operates at all times in compliance with ClarkLindsey's policies and procedures, and within the parameters of the organization's core values, vision and mission.

Education and Experience

  • A registered nurse licensed in the state of Illinois required. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • A minimum of two years’ of professional nursing experience in a long-term healthcare setting is required.
  • Familiarity with operational, financial, quality assurance, and human resource procedures and regulations required.
  • One year or more of administrative experience in nursing service administration or comparable management experience is preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office including Word, Excel, Teams and SharePoint. Experience with Point Click Care software is preferred. 
 
  • Working Conditions
  • Works in office area as well as throughout the premises.
  • Moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Is involved with residents, family members, employees, regulatory auditors, visitors, etc. under all conditions/circumstances.
  • Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekend and/or evening/night work to meet the needs of a 24 hour operation and staffing model, and is required to be on-call.

Specific Requirements

  • Must live within 30 minutes of ClarkLindsey's Urbana campus.
  • Must be able to lift, push up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to support persons (possibly up to 200 pounds or more) in emergency situations. 
  • Must be able to move intermittenlyt throughout the work day.
  • Must be able to possess sight/hearing senses so that the requirements of this position can be fully met. 
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and to provide supervision when needed.
  • Ability to learn and use technology.
  • Reputation for integrity and willingness to challenge higher levels of management on issues arising through the Compliance and Quality Assurance programs.
