About the Job
The Maintenance Specialist – Electrical performs skilled electrical work across Champaign Park District facilities, parks, and amenities. From repairing lighting systems to maintaining pumps, motors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs), this position ensures electrical systems operate safely and efficiently. You’ll play a key role in keeping community spaces functional, safe, and welcoming for all who visit.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Construct, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment across facilities and parks
- Install, inspect, and troubleshoot wiring, lighting, motors, pumps, and VFD systems
- Interpret and follow blueprints, diagrams, and safety codes
- Operate aerial trucks, heavy equipment, power tools, and diagnostic testing instruments
- Lead and train seasonal or part-time staff on assigned projects
- Conduct facility inspections and report maintenance issues
- Ensure compliance with all safety, equal opportunity, and harassment prevention policies
- Perform physical work including lifting up to 50 lbs., working in confined spaces, and outdoors in varying weather conditions
