About Horizon Climbing:
Horizon Climbing is the newest indoor bouldering gym in Champaign-Urbana, opening in August of 2025, designed to be a welcoming and inclusive space for climbers of all ages and skill levels. Along with our main bouldering space, we offer youth and adult programs, fitness spaces, study and work lounges, private instruction, and regular community events. The gym also features a climbing-specific training area for dedicated climbers, and a climbing room for young kids complete with a reading nook and games. Horizon isn’t just a place to climb, it’s a place to connect, move, and grow. 

About the position:
Sales Team personnel are the friendly faces at the front desk and the customer service team at Horizon Climbing. You are expected to greet customers, take phone calls, give orientations to new climbers, provide general information to patrons on what Horizon has to offer, and facilitate transactions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Greeting customers entering the facility
  • Using and navigating Approach gym software
  • Facilitating transactions of retail items, memberships, day passes, and more.
  • Providing orientations and facility tours to new climbers
  • Walking through the facility and engaging with the climbers
  • Providing patrons with information on Horizon's programs and events
  • Contributing to the gym culture
  • Completing other tasks as assigned
Minimum work requirements:
  • Friendly and bubbly demeanor when interacting with customers
  • Flexible work schedule, potentially including evenings and weekends
  • Passing a background check
  • An average of 5-20 hours of work per week at a rate of $16/hr
  • Must be at least 17 years of age
Preferred qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of bouldering
  • Previous customer service experience
