Full-Time, $15.60 - $25.50 hourly (DOQ) + excellent benefits

The Horticulture Worker I is responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of Park District annual and perennial landscape displays including associated structures. The Horticulture Worker I is also responsible for the construction and maintenance of District signage. The typical work week is 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. However, workweek hours may vary according to weather or seasonal demand. Some overtime hours during peak season are required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Education and/or experience in horticulture, landscaping or agriculture preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and work from written and oral instructions
  • Ability to operate and maintain vehicles, power equipment and hand tools as listed under Essential Functions
  • Acquire and maintain a current State of Illinois Pesticide Operator’s License within six months of hire
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to understand and work from written and oral instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and implement assigned tasks
  • Positive CAN-DO team attitude
