Description
Certified medical coders are in high demand throughout the health care industry! Gain a thorough understanding of ICD-10 documentation requirements allowing you to navigate the complexities of the new code set. In addition, practice medical coding using 3M Coding and Reimbursement System Plus software with Carol Paton. Become proficient at skills learned in classification and coding systems. Prepare for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) certifications. Note: This program does not include the certification exams.
Prerequisites:
High school diploma or equivalent, high school math and reading comprehension, and proficiency reading and writing the English language. Individuals with prior drug convictions or other felonies may be prohibited from obtaining certification, employment, and/or licenses.
Students will receive their textbook as an e-book for assigned readings as well as a hard copy workbook. Internet accessibility is essential to successful completion of the program. Strongly recommend access to a laptop, desktop, or tablet for reading material.
