Description
NOTE: The location for this event has been moved to the Hilton Garden Inn at 1501 S. Neil Street in Champaign.
This training covers the acronym A.L.I.C.E. Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. It is designed so that each person in your organization has the ability and authority to make the best decision they can, based on factual information, to survive an armed intruder. Lt. Tod Myers will discuss each principle to (a) find out what is currently being used and (b) provide suggested alternatives, if appropriate. The goal is not to suggest any changes to your current procedures but rather provide additional protocols or tactics that your organization could consider for implementation.
Lt. Tod Myers started at Champaign Police Department in 1993. Since that time, he has been involved in a variety of functions within the department including Field Training, Crime Scene, and Hostage Negotiations. About three years ago, he was introduced to the ALICE concepts and attended an instructor course. Since then, he has provided training for over 500 school staff and businesses within Champaign County. He serves as one of the primary ALICE instructors for the department and oversees the Field Training Unit that is responsible for the training and development of new officers. He is currently serving as the Evening Shift Commander.
