SUMMARY:Junior League Gala Celebrating 80 Years of Service
DESCRIPTION:The Junior League of Champaign-Urbana will host a gala to Celebrate 80 Years of Service\, sponsored by McGladery\, at the Champaign Country Club on Saturday\, February 16. The event hours are from 6PM - 11PM. Ticket pricing is $80 per person\, $150 per couple\, and $600 per table of 8.  Tickets are available for purchase online at http://www.juniorleaguecu.org/?nd=gala.  At the Gala\, you can enjoy dinner\, dancing and both a silent and live auction.\n\nThroughout its 80 years of  service to the community\, the Junior League of Champaign-Urbana has started and the following community projects: Developmental Services Center (est. 1961-62)\, Krannert Docents Program (est. 1962-63)\, Crisis Nursery (est. 1984-85)\, and Food for Families (est. 1986).  Each of these are examples of Junior League projects started with our membership that have transitioned to independence.  Basic Needs for School Readiness is the current Junior League initiative.\n\nOne hundred percent of the proceeds raised at the Gala will be used for community grants and programs benefiting children and families in the Champaign-Urbana area. JLCU projects include Junior League Locker\, a teacher supply store that provides supplies free of charge to Champaign and Urbana teachers\; Backpack Buddies provide backpacks of food to area schoolchildren on the weekends\; and Books by the Bushel is a book fundraiser for area school libraries.
