Starting a Small Business Workshop, presented by Rick Shurtz
This workshop is the first in a series that covers must-have topics with real-life examples and cases. First-time entrepreneurs and those growing their small businesses all benefit from the straight talk and friendly mentoring from our experienced, business professionals. Business Advisor Council (BAC) workshops and resources help minimize risk by sharing the vital, need-to-know truths of running a business.

About the presenter:
Rick Shurtz graduated from the University of Illinois with a major in Marketing. After returning from his stint in the army, he worked in marketing and sales for Capital Controls in Pennsylvania and traveled extensively in Europe and Central America setting up and training Capital’s sales force. Since returning to Champaign, he has started the Fitness Center, Cabana Tan Centers, Landmark Real Estate and Outdoor Concepts. Rick purchased an existing business, Arrow Glass.
He has volunteered and worked for United Way, past President of Champaign County Humane Society and Champaign County Board of Realtors.
Rick mentors for several youths in the area. He has volunteered with ECI SCORE for the past eight years. He has been responsible for the workshop scheduling and working with many clients who have had high expectations of starting and maintaining their small business.
